Cross Country & Winter Hiking

Cross-country skiing – combine nature and sport!

Cross-country skiers are also very welcome…
The Ganghofer high altitude cross-country ski run offers a fantastic tour through snow covered landscape at an altitude of 1,500 m. It is 10 km long and is suitable for the ambitious cross-country skier. The route starts at the Alpenglühn mountain hut.
From Igel See there is a 15 km long unprepared natural cross-country ski run through the Gais Valley up the other side of the Wetterstein massif to Leutasch. From there you can return to Ehrwald via public transport or taxi.

Winter hiking

The Ehrwald Alm is not only a popular place for skiers and snow boarders, winter hikers are also most welcome!

Winter trails

1. The hike from the valley station to the mountain station of the Ehrwalder Alm cable car takes about 1 hour with the trail rising gently to an altitude of 400 metres. If this is too strenuous you can ride up with the Ehrwalder Alm cable car and simply walk the stretch down again.

2. There is another winter hiking route next to the “Ganghofer high altitude cross-country ski run“ up to the Talblick. You should allow 2 – 2.5 hours for the walk there and back (going up and down with the cable railway). Please note: after a new fall of snow, the path can be closed due to avalanche risk!
